Overview

Residents are encouraged to give their views on the Council’s preferred locations for new development within the area over the next 15 Years.  

The ‘Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD)’ or Allerdale Local Plan (Part Two) will identify or ‘allocate’ sufficient areas of land within the district that lie outside the National Park for specific types of development and land uses such as housing, employment, retail, leisure and open space for the period up to 2029.  The plan supports the vision for the district set out in the Allerdale Local Plan (Part One) in delivering sustainable development, economic growth and helping make Allerdale a great place to live, work and visit. Whilst Part One of the Local Plan set out the general vision and scale of development for the area, the second part now under consultation considers specific sites. 

The Council has identified its ‘Preferred Options’ sites following previous consultations undertaken in 2014 and 2015.  The Preferred Options consultation is a key stage in the preparation of the Site Allocations document, and enables local communities to have their say on which sites should be developed and which sites should be safeguarded. 

The consultation starts on 27 January 2017 and ends on 24 March 2017.
