Consultation on proposed Admission Arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools (Extended consultation)– 2024-25

Closed 4 Jan 2023

Opened 24 Nov 2022

Overview

All schools must have admission arrangements that clearly set out how children will be admitted, including the criteria that will be applied if there are more applications than places at the school.  Admission arrangements are determined by admission authorities.

Cumbria County Council (the local authority) is the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools in Cumbria.

Why your views matter

The School Admissions Code 2021 requires admission authorities to consult where changes are proposed to admission arrangements which will apply in the following academic year.

As the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools in Cumbria, the local authority is seeking views on the proposed admission arrangements and the co-ordinated admission scheme for 2024-25.

For more information, including who admission authorities need to consult with, please refer to the School Admissions Code.

Please read the 'related documents' below and give us your views.  Depending on your browser, the documents will be downloaded or open automatically.

What happens next

The consultation closes on 4 January 2023.  Any responses that have been received will be reviewed.  Responses will be used to inform the final admission arrangements and co-ordinated admissions scheme for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2024-25.  The final arrangements will be presented, seeking approval, to the County Council Cabinet in February 2023.

Subject to agreement, the final admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2024-25 will be published on the County Council website no later than 15 March 2023.  The co-ordinated admission scheme must be determined by 31 January 2023.
