Overview

The Core Strategy provides the overall framework for further Development Plan Documents. It is one of a number of documents that will inform the planning process in Eden over the period to 2021. Future documents will cover Housing and Primary Development Control Policies. All documents reflect the response from the public to consultation drafts. Development Plan Documents (DPDs) will provide the detailed policy framework that will be used when considering planning applications and they will be in conformity with national and regional policy. Some Development Plan Documents will also allocate land and specific sites to enable sustainable development to take place. These allocations will be shown on the Proposals Map.

Why your views matter

Development Plan Documents are subject to rigourous requirements during their production and provide opportunities for community involvement throughout the process, together with formal documents for consultation. This consultation provides the framework for the formulation of the more detailed generic and site specific policies. The Planning Framework must be endorsed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and is subject to public consultation and examination in public before it can be formally adopted.

What happens next

All Development Plan Documents will be subject to Sustainability Appraisal to make sure they are socially, environmentally and economically sound.
