Overview

Eden District Council is entering a consultation phase for a proposed Designated Public Place Order for the towns of Alston, Appleby, Kirkby Stephen and Penrith. This consultation is supported by the Carlisle and Eden Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP). Local Authorities have the power to make an Order under Section 13 of the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001. The Order if made will give the Police powers in relation to street drinking associated with nuisance or anti-social behaviour.

Why your views matter

Eden District Council feels that the making of such an Order will improve the quality of people's lives in the Eden area. The consultation phase allows the community to air their views on this and these views will be taken into consideration before a final decision is made on the Order.
