2021-22 School Admission Arrangements for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools

Closed 2 Dec 2019

Opened 22 Oct 2019

Overview

All schools must have admission arrangements that clearly set out how children will be admitted, including the criteria that will be applied if there are more applications than places at the school.  Admissions arrangments are determined by admission authorities.  Cumbria County Council (the local authority) is the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools in Cumbria.

Why We Are Consulting

The School Admissions Code 2014 requires admission authorities to consult where changes are proposed to admission arrangements which will apply in the following academic year.  As the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools in Cumbria, the local authority is seeking views on the proposed admission arrangements for 2021-22.

For more information, including who admission authorities need to consult with, please refer to the School Admissions Code at  www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-admissions--2

Alternatively, please contact the School Admissions and Appeals Team, tel: 01228 221582 or e-mail: school.admissions@cumbria.gov.uk

What Happens Next

Following the close of the consultation on 2 December 2019, any responses that have been received will be reviewed.  Responses will be used to inform the final admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2021-22.  The final admission arrangements will be presented, seeking approval, to the County Council Cabinet in January 2020.

Subject to agreement, the final admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2021-22 will be published on the County Council website no later than 15 March 2020.
