The Appleby Fair TRO 2011 as relating to South Lakeland was approved at South Lakeland Local Committee on 4 April 2011. The TRO imposes the restrictions between 1 April and 30 June annually during the lead up to and during the Appleby Horse Fair.
The traffic regulation order consultation is to invite views and objections regarding restrictions proposed for the A683 and surrounding area between Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh to the South Lakeland District boundary.

The traffic regulation order is proposed to introduce traffic regulation to minimiuse the impact on the main southern approach road through South Lakeland to Appleby. The order is proposed to come into force annually between 1 April and 30 June to cover the fair. It would be in force as an when the signs are displayed.
The proposals will be reported to South Lakeland Local Committee meeting on 4 April 2011 where all representation made will be considered. The Local Committee will consider all representations and make a decision as to whether to approve the traffic regulation order.
