School Admission Arrangements for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schoools - 2020-21

Overview

All schools must have admission arrangements that clearly set out how children will be admitted, including the criteria that will be applied if there are more applications than places at the school.  Admission arrangements are determined by admission authorities.  Cumbria County Council (the local authority) is the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools in Cumbria.

Why We Are Consulting

The School Admissions Code 2014 requires admission authorities to consult where changes are proposed to admission arrangements which will apply in the following academic year.  As the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools in Cumbria, the local authority is seeking views on the proposed admission arrangements and the co-ordinated admission scheme for 2020-21.

What Happens Next

Following the close of the consultation on 13 November 2018, any responses that have been received will be reviewed and acknowledged.  Responses will be used to inform the final admission arrangements and co-ordinated admission scheme for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2020-21.  The final arrangements and co-ordinated scheme will be presented, seeking approval, to the County Council Cabinet in December 2018.

Subject to agreement, the final admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2020-21 will be published on the County Council website no later than 15 March 2019.  

The co-ordinated admission scheme must be determined by 1 January 2019.
