Overview

Fuel poverty was raised as a topic of concern during a review into services for older people ('Living Well Beyond Retirement) and a recommendation was to hold a specific review into this topic. It was agreed by Members that any review should take place over the summer months to enable any recommendations approved to be implemented for the oncoming autumn and winter. The aims and objectives of the review is to raise awareness, to ensure information is co-ordinated and the dissemination of information includes all appropriate groups.

Why We Are Consulting

Although the review is not formally consulting members of the public, if there are members of the public who wish to submit comments to the Council concerning fuel poverty, or their opinions of how the issue should be addressed the Review Group Members will include all corresondence in their deliberations before agreeing recommendations.

What Happens Next

A report including recommendations will be submitted to the Housing and Communities Scrutiny Panel on 10 September 2009 and if approved will be forwarded to the Executive for their October meeting requesting approval and implementation of the report recommendations.
