Public Space Protection Order Survey 2017

Closed 1 Oct 2017

Opened 14 Jul 2017

Overview

In 2012 the council carried out the Clean Streets Consultation which considered introducing Dog Control Orders. More than 1,000 people responded and afterconsidering the responses the orders were put in place.

Since Dog Control Orders were put in place, we focused on prevention through awareness raising this included signs regarding the orders, distribution of leaflets and targeting enforcement action on reported hot spot areas.

Now five years on, the current Dog Control Order legislation will expire in October 2017 and we have the option of replacing them with a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

This survey will ask a series of questions about dogs and public spaces. This is your opportunity to let us have any feedback on the previous dog control orders, your views on options for the new order. We also welcome any other feedback you have regarding dog control matters as this may shape any future PSPOs.

For more information look at the frequently asked questions below or come along to one of the drop in events also listed below.

Maps of the areas affected by the orders are available on our website and there are links at the relevant questions within the survey itself.

What happens next?

The results of the consultation will be used to decide on the content of the PSPO. These will form the report to SLDC councillors in November 2017 for the approval to go forward.

The results of the consultation will also be put on the website www.southlakeland.gov.uk/pspo and in South Lakeland News.
