How you felt about life in the parish - what you would keep the same and what you would change.

You Said

284 questionnaires were completed. Views on the locality were very positive but a number of concerns were also voiced.

We Did

A report on the findings was published along with the resulting Action Plan as the Lower Allithwaite Community Plan. This was adopted as policy by the Parish Council in July 2013.

We Asked

We proposed a number of changes to our household waste recycling centres to improve efficiency. These included the closure of six HWRC sites and alterations in the opening hours/days of HWRC sites.

You Said

There was considerable oppostion to the closures of the six Household Waste recycling Centres. 65% of respondents were willing to accept proposals to change opening hours/days of the centres.

We Did

Acting on the results of the Consultation the decision was made not to proceed witth the closures of the six HWRC sites. Changes to opening hours/days will go forward.

We Asked

We consulted on a scheme proposal for Soutergate to implement residents only parking on the parking spaces on Soutergate.

You Said

Some concerns were raised regarding the number of available spaces. Some concern was raised regarding allowing parking at night with the single yellow lines. Also consideration was requested for additional spaces further north on Soutergate.

We Did

Cumbria Highways have collated all the responses and met with James Airey, County Councillor for Ulverston West. Proposals are being finalised for further consultation as part of a traffic egulation order process for formally advertiseing any changes to restrictions.

We Asked

There were two proposals in the consultation: 1. Proposal to charge for resident parking permits 2. Changes to the level of subsidy for social care charges

You Said

In relation to the resident parking permits 48% of survey respondents were against the changes and the majority of consultation events attendees were opposed to the charging. With the changes to the level of subsidy for social care charges just under half of survey respondents were opposed to the change.

Proposals for charging for residents parking permits have been withdrawn Proposed changes in subsidy for social care charges have been taken forward.

We Asked

We presented proposals for Old Lake Road, Fisherbeck and Brich Road in Ambleside for consultation and objection.

You Said

All comments and objections were recorded for presentation to South Lakeland Local Committee as part of a report.

We Did

A report was prepared which detailed all the comments and objections receievd regarding the proposed Ambleside restrictions. The proposals were agreed at the Local Committee meeting on Friday 18 March 2012.

We Asked

We received 1216 responses to the consultation regarding proposed changes to the blue badge scheme. This included postal, email and online responses. We asked the following questions: Are you a blue badge holder? To what extent do you agree or disagree that the increase in fee is reasonable? To what extent do you agree or disagree that you will be able to afford the increase in fee?

You Said

Through the responses we recieved, the results were as follows: Most people who responded (96%) were blue badge holders. More than three quarters of people - 78% - who responded said they agreed or strongly agreed that the increase in fee from £2 for three years to £10 for three years was reasonable. Four out of every five respondents (80%) agreed or strongly agreed that they would be able to afford the increase in fee.

We Did

County council Cabinet members received a report at their January 2012 meeting which gave details of responses to the consultation, as well as a detailed breakdown of the costs of delivering the scheme. As a result of this information Cabinet members resolved that: 1.in line with national legislative changes and following local consultation, the recommendation is to increase the Blue Badge fee to the maximum of £10. This would be paid every 3 years by badge holders; 2.the badge fee to be introduced with effect from 1 March 2012.

Cumbria Highways consulted on proposals for a 20mph speed limit with accompanying traffic calming road humps on the Kirkbarrow Estate.

You Said

Support was receievd from Kendal Civic Society for the 20mph without traffic calming. Cumbria Police, Ghyllside Primary School supported the psoporsals as did Kirkbarrow Residents Association, which included a petition from Well Ings residents in support, but with an additional road hump. 8 residents responded, one in support and 7 in objection.

We Did

All comments and objections were reported to South Lakeland Local Committee at its meeting on 18 November 2011. It was recommended that the Kirkbarrow 20mph zone with traffic calming be approved for implementation with one additional road hump on Well Ings. The decision was that the proposals were approved.
